When the Plan Finally Made Sense

The project had stalled before it began. An architect had designed a layout, and the clients had held off — delaying construction because something about the plan wasn't right. They couldn't quite move forward with a design that didn't reflect what they actually wanted. So they waited.

Their contractor knew who to call.

Raashi Design came in at the beginning — before a single wall had moved — and started where every good design starts: with the people living there. What did they need? How did they want to move through the space? What had been missing from the plan on paper?

The layout was reconceived entirely. Multiple smaller spaces were reconfigured to do more, and do it better. A proper home office was worked into the plan — a dedicated, quiet space designed around how the couple actually works and lives. The laundry room was relocated to where it made sense for daily life. And at the center of it all, a large open kitchen with an eat-in peninsula — generous, social, and exactly right for the way the clients wanted to use it.

The design concept was Coastal Glam: crystal pendant lighting, a glass mosaic backsplash, a palette that felt calm and collected with just enough sparkle to make it memorable. Custom cabinetry, a statement range hood, and considered finishes that all pull together. The clients called it an absolute showstopper — and it is.

More than anything, though, it was the sense of being genuinely understood that stayed with them. Sheeja "got right to work to get to know us and our preferences," they said — and "understood what we needed, even when we weren't sure ourselves."

Sometimes the best design doesn't start with a vision board. It starts with a really good conversation.
