At Their Own Pace

They had lived in the house for years — long enough to know exactly what wasn't working, and not at all where to begin. It had aged quietly around them: dated, a little tired, full of potential no one had the time or the road map to unlock. After a search for the right designer, they came to Raashi Design with a wish list and a question — how do we even start?

We started by slowing down. Rather than gut the whole house at once, we planned the work in phases, at a pace that fit their lives and their comfort, so it always felt like progress and never upheaval. Three chapters, each building on the last — carried throughout by a single warm, intentional paint palette, its tones chosen as much for the mood they set as the way they look.

The first phase was the rooms they live in. The family room was the heart of it: we transformed the fireplace — once a plain focal point, now finished in a soft, muted blue that anchors the room without overpowering it — and turned an underused open shelf into something special, a built-in reading nook with a custom bookshelf and a cushioned bench seat, a small and slightly whimsical corner made for unwinding with a book. Bouclé chairs, a soft sofa, and layered lighting make the rest of the room as comfortable as it is composed. The guest room we kept fresh and inviting — a warm terracotta wall, botanical art, soft layered bedding — the kind of space that makes a guest feel instantly at home. And the primary bedroom became a true retreat: serene and quiet, a muted-blue tray ceiling drawing the eye up, and a corner given over to a reading chaise with its own gentle pool of light.

The second phase moved through the bathrooms — every one fully remodeled, including a guest bath designed with universal-design details, so it welcomes older family and guests with ease and grace as well as beauty.

The third brought the biggest change of all: the kitchen, taken down and rebuilt from the structure up — with storage solutions designed around their lifestyle and the way they truly use the space, so it finally works the way they cook and gather.

Through every phase, the art and decor were chosen piece by piece — intentional, personal, tying each room to the next. What began as a tired house they didn't know how to start became a home that feels, in their words, both curated and lived-in: harmonious from one room to the next, and built entirely around them.
